Your contract’s signed, your date is locked on my calendar, and the hardest decision is officially behind you. What comes next is the part I love most – getting to actually know you, planning alongside with you, and watching your day slowly come into focus over the coming months.
Right Now: The Boring (But Important) Stuff
Your contract and invoice are all set, with a payment schedule so there are no surprises – everything is managed in one place, and you’ll get reminders before anything is due. If a date ever needs to shift, just message me – life happens, and I’d rather you tell me than stress about it.
And truly, anytime you need anything, you can email or text me. I’m not hard to reach, and I’d rather you ask a question that sit with it.
Between Now and Your Wedding Day
This is the long stretch – and I promise it’s not radio silence. Here’s the rhythm:
A few months out, I’ll send you a pre-wedding questionnaire. This is where the real planning starts – family dynamics, must-have shots, timeline priorities, the small details that matter to you that no one else would think to ask about.
As your date gets closer, we’ll do a final check-in – confirming details, easing any last-minute nerves, and making sure you feel fully at ease heading into the day. By the time your wedding arrives, there won’t be any guesswork left – just you, getting to actually be present in it.
A Quick Note on Engagement Sessions
Most of my couples choose to add one on, and I get why – it’s genuinely one of the best parts of the process. It’s low-pressure, it’s fun, and it’s the easiest way for us to warm up together in front of the camera before your wedding day. By the time I’m photographing your ceremony, you’re not meeting my lens for the first time – we already know how to move together.
It’s completely optional, not something you need – but if you haven’t added one on yet, it’s worth considering. Just let me know if you’d like to talk through timing and locations.
How I Approach Family Photos
Family portraits can often be the most stressful fifteen minutes of a wedding day for couples – and my job is to make sure they’re not. Ahead of time, we’ll build a family shot list together, and I’ll ask you to assign one point person to help wrangle everyone – think the loud, bossy bridesmaid or family member who isn’t shy, isn’t afraid to speak up, and can keep people on task and moving. It sounds small, but it makes a huge difference.
I’d also encourage sharing the shot list with the family members actually in the photos ahead of time. When people know what groupings are coming, everyone shows up ready instead of standing around confused – which keeps the whole thing light and fast – instead of dragging on.
Done right, this part of the day is genuinely fun. You’ll get all your formal portraits, but you’ll also get the real moments happening in between – the laughing, the in-between glances, the small chaos of a family trying to get everyone in one frame. Those in-between shots often end up being some of my favorites from the whole day.
Gallery Delivery – And Why I Don’t Rush Sneak Peeks
I know the wait for photos can feel long, and I don’t take that lightly. Here’s what you can expect: about a week after your wedding, I’ll send a small gallery of sneak peeks – usually just a handful of images I pull while culling through your day, given a light edit so you have something to hold onto right away.
But I want to be honest with you about what these are, and what they aren’t. Sneak peeks are not your final edits. They’re quick previews, not the full depth of work I put into each image for your final gallery – color grading, tone, the layered editing that makes a gallery feel cohesive and polished. That process takes time, and I’d rather you wait for it than get a rushed version that doesn’t represent your day the way it deserves.
When your full gallery arrives, it will look noticeably more refined than your sneak peeks – and that’s intentional. You’re getting the best of my work, not the fastest version of it.
Let’s Talk About Your Album
If you haven’t decided on an album yet, I’d really encourage you to consider one. Here’s the truth: a hard drive can fail, cloud storage gets forgotten, and a gallery link won’t last forever. The images that matter most to you deserve to exist somewhere more permanent than a digital file – printed, tangible, something you can actually hold and hand to your kids one day.
Your gallery will make this easy. You’ll be able to design and customize an album directly from your favorite images, choosing the moments that meant the most to you. And because I print exclusively through reputable, industry-leading printers, I can guarantee the quality of every page – true color, rich detail, and archival craftsmanship that will hold up for generations.
An album isn’t just an add-on. It’s the one thing from your wedding day that you’ll actually open, again and again, for years to come.
